Learn the art of hand engraving - no experience needed, just a passion for creating beautiful designs!
Have you ever wanted to create something beautiful, permanent, and unique?
Glass engraving is one of the most mesmerizing and rewarding creative skills—and you don’t need to be a calligrapher or a "pro artist" to start. This is Glass Engraving 101, a foundational workshop designed specifically for beginners who have never touched a professional engraver's drill before.
The Reality of the Art: Let’s be honest: You won’t become a master engraver in three hours. Like any high-level craft, mastery requires dedicated practice and learning the industry. This workshop is your Day One. I provide the safe environment, the professional tools, and the technical "must-knows" so you can begin your journey with total confidence.
What You Will Learn:
Drill Safety & Ergonomics: How to hold and control the Yokefellow Drill without fear.
The "Mark-Making" Basics: Learn how the drill interacts with glass and how to create clean, intentional lines.
Drafting: Understanding which glass types are beginner-friendly, how to prep your workspace, and prep surface for engraving.
The Path to Mastery: I’ll outline exactly how to practice at home and which advanced workshops you’ll need to take to eventually book your first client later this year.
This is an intimate, 10-student setting. Because this is a foundational class, you will get personalized, one-on-one guidance.
Your Foundational Kit Includes:
Professional loaner drill for class use (unless you upgrade to Tier 2!).
Safety gear (face mask/goggles).
Practice glass, burs, color fill.
Bonus: 30-day access to our private community and a Feb 10th live online "Office Hour" to ask questions and troubleshoot.
🎟️ Investment
Tier 1: Foundational Entry ($195) – Everything you need for the workshop, including your take-home starter kit and practice materials.
Tier 2: The "Ready-to-Practice" Bundle ($260) – Includes everything in Tier 1 PLUS your own brand-new Yokefellow Drill to keep. This is the best value for those committed to practicing at home to reach client-ready status this year.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need prior hand engraving experience to attend?
No! This workshop is designed for beginners. No prior experience necessary. We will use a template to trace the design on glass.
Where exactly is the workshop located and is there parking?
We are meeting at 15430 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20905. Unlike downtown locations, this venue offers ample free parking in the plaza parking lot. You won’t have to worry about garages or meters!
What should I bring with me?
All supplies are provided. Just bring your enthusiasm to learn!
What is the difference between the General Admission ticket and the Ready-to-Practice Bundle ticket?
You get to keep the Yokefellow drill you use in the workshop! This is highly recommended so you can practice the moment you get home.
Can I learn this in time for Valentine’s Day?
I'm encouraged by your enthusiasm! Everyone learns at their own pace. There is much to learn and master. Our busy Fall 2026 season should be your first goal.
What happens after the workshop ends?
You aren't left on your own! You’ll get immediate access to our FB Group Community to connect with classmates. Plus, we have a Live Office Hour with me on February 10th to answer questions and troubleshoot.
What is the refund policy?
Due to the intimate class size (only 10 seats) and the cost of sourcing individual materials, tickets are non-refundable. However, they are fully transferable. If you cannot make it, use for a future class or you may gift or sell your seat to a fellow artist.
